Atlantic Electric Gains Time-Savings and Visibility with Integrated Solution
Using Vista
Atlantic Electric, LLC is a fullservice electrical contractor in South Carolina, specializing in commercial, industrial, institutional electrical installations, airfield lighting, data cable, and fiber optic cable installation.
The company’s Controller, Mark Ames, explains how Atlantic Electric has seen time-savings over the last two years using Vista by Viewpoint to have all job costing done in one system: “I have great visibility into not only finances, but projects as well. With the solution, I see what’s happening and help keep things on track.” It also gives me visibility into change orders with a very easy workflow and process. Also, the reporting with Vista is better than what we’d had before.”
Return on Investment, Again and Again
Time-savings isn’t the only benefit that Atlantic Electric has experienced. According to Ames, “We’ve streamlined our payroll process and reporting using Vista and it saved us about $20,000 last year.”
He continues, “The usability of Vista makes the legwork lighter – all I need to do is update projections and then the WIP works out on its own. Everything flows and I just check that it’s all posted the way it should be. It gives me visibility into change orders with a very easy workflow and process. Also, the reporting with Vista is better than what we’d had before; it’s actually day and night. We get what we need and it comes out in a really nice format.” The confidence of getting things done correctly, efficiently, and proactively is encouraging to Ames, who explains: “The old regime was very reactive and would wait until there was an issue or something broke. Now we have the people and this software that’s got the capability to get it rolling correctly. Before we had a lot of ‘Band-Aids’ to fix things and get by, but now we have solutions that work with the process.
In closing, Ames says the product keeps getting better, “I love the product and it gives us a ton of time savings. And when we give feedback (when at the user conference and regional user groups meetings), it seems that within the next version or two, they find a way to incorporate that functionality. I love it.”
