Viewpoint For Projects™ aids MPI Offshore Ltd in quest for ‘Adventure’ and ‘Discovery’.

MPI Offshore Limited, a pioneering company in the offshore wind turbine installation industry is utilizing Viewpoint For Projects web-based collaboration tool to manage the construction of two new TIV (Turbine Installation Vessels).

The two DP vessels, ‘Adventure’ and ‘Discovery’ represent an investment of $550 million. The new vessels design is based on the current design of MV Resolution (built 2003), which is the only offshore wind turbine installation vessel in the world. These new vessels will be slightly bigger and will have a number of enhancements, such as a much larger crane (1,000 MT lifting capacity), larger accommodation (112 persons), helideck, enhanced jacking and positioning capability (DPII) and the ability to work in the offshore Oil and Gas sector.

For such a large offshore project, MPI required a solution that enabled the timely and accurate flow of information between project partners located across the globe.

Use of the Viewpoint For Projects solution facilitates efficient information, communication and process management ensuring that everyone is working to the latest version of each and every document or drawing as well as being able to show ‘who did what, and when’.

In addition, the user defined language preferences built in to the Viewpoint For Project Collaboration solution allows each registered user to select the language in which they would like to work, including simplified Chinese used in this instance.
