Unite Group Uses Viewpoint For Projects for Moonraker Alley Project
Using Viewpoint For Projects
UNITE Group
Since 1991, UNITE Group has pioneered and specialised in the expanding and economically resilient student accommodation sector. They provide homes to some 40,000 students in the UK. This is set to increase with the £25m refurbishment of the old ‘Moonraker Alley’ warehouse buildings in Central London.
The scheme will comprise of a mix of student accommodation and commercial properties. ‘The Unite Group’ will use Viewpoint For Projects™ collaboration software to control documentation, information and management processes more effectively.
Moonraker Alley will comprise of 671 student bed spaces and 2230m2 of retail led commercial space on Great Suffolk Street SE1. The build will also include two new buildings separated by a new pedestrian walkway linking Great Suffolk Street and Pocock Street.
There will be one 10 storey corner triangular building which acts as an architectural marker and another large 9 storey block which retains the ‘warehouse’ character of Southwark. The design philosophy of the buildings, with three ‘pods’ that float above and the creation of a new pedestrian route, draw on the previous 18th Century use of the site and aim to re-establish the historic address ‘Moonraker Alley’.
The accommodation will also include 127 studios intended for post graduate students and 84 dual aspect cluster apartments comprising 544 student cluster rooms, all with ensuite shower rooms.
The Unite Group have embraced Viewpoint For Projects collaboration software because of difficulties which had arisen when monitoring previous projects as an owner operator.
The construction team at ‘The Unite Group’ have used Viewpoint For Projects in the past and the system will now be used as an integral part of their drive to standardise management processes on all future projects. The management team have been so impressed with the functionality offered by Viewpoint For Projects collaboration software that it is the 3rd Unite Group project to use an extranet in 2 months.
All future projects will work from a bespoke Viewpoint For Projects template designed in conjunction with our implementation team. This will ensure consistency and increased control across the business in the future.
